If you're travelling abroad with children, you may need a notarised travel consent form.

Many countries all around the world have strict requirements in place when travelling with children. As laws change, the necessity for a travel consent form increases. If a child is travelling without both parents/ legal guardians, this may cause problems at border control.

For some countries, travel consents are now in a prescribed form (Click the link to see South Africa's standardised form)

When travelling with a child, their birth certificate is sometimes acceptable. However, if a child is travelling without one or both parents or legal guardian, a notarised travel consent form is advisable. The consent form will layout the parents details, who the child is accompanying on their travels, where and for how long they are travelling for etc. Travel consent forms assist the process through Customs and Border control.
